About the role
- Design, deploy, operate, and maintain resilient secure Cloud environments for the Department of Education
- Lead modernization efforts to assess, select, and deploy advantageous cloud services in support of mission goals
- Design Cloud-based system architectures that include public and private Cloud technologies, software, hardware, and communications solutions
- Engage relevant stakeholders to assess requirements and mission priorities
- Ensure architectures are in compliance with open systems standards as they apply to the client’s environment
- Evaluate compatibility of information system development efforts with agency architectures and recommend adjustments
- Evaluate and remediate problems of Cloud connectivity, Cloud platform architecture, workflow, organization, and planning and develop appropriate corrective action
- Collaborate with teams to support transition from on-premise infrastructure to the cloud and support ongoing operations and scalability
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
- Strong experience in one or more architecture domains (e.g. business architecture, solutions architecture, application architecture)
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures of cloud technology, including SaaS, PaaS, or IaaS
- Experience working in the public cloud
- Experience integrating security into all facets of cloud architecture
- Proven background working in cloud environments with experience and knowledge in 4 or more of the following: Agile methodologies (Scrum or Kanban); Agile collaboration tools (Atlassian Jira, Confluence); CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab, Bitbucket, Artifactory); CSPs including Azure, AWS, or OCI; Containerization and container management with Kubernetes and Helm; Security automation (SAST, DAST); Cyber tools (Aviatrix, Orca, Splunk, Amulous, STIG scanner); Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation; Git, branching strategies, GitFlow and/or GitHub Flow; Cloud high availability and scalability best practices and architectures
- Ability to meet with customers to gather and understand business requirements
- Ability to quickly adapt to new situations and changing priorities
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Must be punctual, reliable, and accountable with ability to follow through with tasks to completion
- Desired: 12+ years of progressive experience engineering and architecting public cloud environments
- Desired: AWS Certified Solution Architect Professional or equivalent certification
- Desired: Experience solutioning and deploying Google Cloud Platform services
- Desired: Experience working in an agile environment (preferred)
