About the role

  • Drive engineering projects by developing software solutions, conducting tests and inspections, and preparing reports related to Vertex tax engine
  • Independently develop a full software stack
  • Interact with system engineers to define system requirements for automation
  • Design, build, and support backend services using .NET (Core/6/7) and frontend UI components in Angular
  • Develop and maintain SQL Server (AWS RDS) databases supporting tax applications
  • Build orchestration layers for tax workflows to handle integration across systems
  • Implement and handle cloud-native and hybrid deployments using Kubernetes/Conductor, Docker, and GitLab CI/CD pipelines
  • Evaluate current-state tax technology ecosystem and help define target-state tax architecture
  • Explore opportunities to apply automation and AI/ML techniques for workflow optimization
  • Collaborate with technical teams to deliver solutions and continuously learn new technologies

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree plus 5 years of related work experience OR Advanced degree with 3 years of related experience
  • 4-7 years Technical engineering experience
  • Familiarity with Vertex O-Series or Vertex Edge indirect tax engines
  • Experience designing and implementing orchestration layers for sophisticated business workflows
  • Familiarity with rules engines or policy-driven logic frameworks
  • Experience applying AI/ML to enhance workflow automation, monitoring, and performance optimization
  • Experience with SQL Server (AWS RDS), database design, and integration
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-native and hybrid deployments across AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud, and on-premise environments
  • Experience with container orchestration using Kubernetes/Conductor and CI/CD pipelines in GitLab
  • Strong proficiency with .NET Core/6/7 backend development and Angular front-end frameworks
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • At least 18 years of age
