About the role
- Play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and optimizing protection relay systems for EHV/HV substations
- Ensure the reliability and efficiency of power systems
- Lead the secondary engineering activities (Control & Protection, Substation Automation Systems, Interface Engineering, Telecom Requirements & LV Auxiliary Systems for EHV/HV Electrical Substations)
- Execute with association of workgroups in order to meet assigned objectives
- Work with GSI Global Engineering Center to coordinate with the GSI Regions / Business Lines as per Project requirement
- Utilize your experience to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and effect short-term and long-term business goals
- Provide technical leadership and interface with GSI Regions/GE Vernova Business Lines
- Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers
- Document and communicate results of technical data generated
- Participate on teams assigned to address specific organizational initiatives
- Share engineering information and promote open dialogue
- Prepare invention disclosures to protect the technology that provides a competitive advantage to the business
- Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
- Perform study on Electrical Power systems and load flow and short circuit studies
- Design and prepare scheme drawings as per project requirement
- Design/review the Substation automation system based on IEC61850-8-1 & IEC 61850-9-2
- Review BOQ and Architecture drawings of PLCC/FOTE engineering
- Review equipment drawings of major Substation Equipment
- Perform CT and VT and its sizing calculations
- Perform/review the protection relay application / setting calculations and coordination including tripping analysis
- Design / Review the control/Power cable engineering in substations
- Design the LV/LT auxiliary systems for Electrical Substations and interface with the SAS/SCADA
Requirements
- Bachelor’s (or) master’s degree in electrical engineering
- 8+ years of experience in substation protection relay systems within EHV Electrical Substations, Oil & Gas or Power Transmission industries
- Experience in EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) environments with multidisciplinary teams
- Experience of Secondary(CRP/SAS, Aux Systems, Telecom, Interface) engineering up to 765kV/400kV/220KV and HVDC Substations (AIS/GIS/SOLAR/WIND)
- Experience/Knowledge on Relay Testing, Equipment Testing, Control / Protection scheme testing & SAS Commissioning experience (min 1 year) shall be given additional weightage
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal, responsive and supervision skills
- Demonstrated ability to evaluate and resolve problems
- Demonstrated ability to manage programs/projects
- Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs
- Established project management skills
- Fluent in English; additional language (any foreign Language) is a plus
- Willingness to travel internationally as required
- Proven technical supervision skills in a complex system engineering development environment
- Proactively serves on cross functional management teams; self-directed decision-making; Pulls in experts when needed.
