About the role
- The Performance Engineer will be part of the Performance Testing & Diagnostics team within the wider Gas Power Performance Engineering organization.
- The Performance Testing & Diagnostics team is responsible for developing thermal performance testing strategies of gas, steam or combined cycle power plants.
- Day-to-day technical supervision of testing activities, technical fulfillment and performance risk management of new unit and aftermarket contractual tests and quality control of technical deliverables associated with thermal performance programs and projects.
- Engage in technical, business and commercial responsibilities, as well as administrative and management tasks.
- Prepare, plan, and execute thermal performance tests on plant equipment.
- Analyze data, calculate test results, diagnose and evaluate testing issues.
- Communicate and coordinate with internal/external stakeholders on testing activities, schedules, and technical issues.
- Provide daily status updates when travelling.
- Keep testing project admin and documentation platform up-to-date and accurate, based on best judgement.
Requirements
- A four-year degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, thermodynamic cycles and applied fluid mechanics
- Ability to travel extensively in support of global assignments
- Fluent in English language
- Advanced degree in Engineering (desired)
- Prior testing experience following industry standards (desired)
- Familiar with measurement systems and data interpretation (desired)
- Familiar with thermodynamic modelling and analysis applications (desired)
- Knowledge of thermal performance and operation of power plants and power plant equipment (desired)
- Strong computer skills - extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel, programming skills (desired)
- Strong technical aptitude and analytical skills, with great attention to detail (desired)
- Significant flexibility dealing with travels and managing time (desired)
- Self-starter, driving continuous self-improvement and development (desired)
- Works well independently and in a team (desired)
- Displays good interpersonal skills - is accessible and approachable (desired)
- Communicates clearly, concisely and in a professional manner (desired)
