About the role
- Lead the costing of highly complex non-catastrophe treaties across the US Globals and Canada Property portfolios, developing robust expected loss estimates and appropriate loss distributions.
- Drive advanced portfolio-level analytics to inform strategic decision-making, optimize performance, and identify emerging trends across markets.
- Develop, refine, and enhance actuarial models, methodologies, and costing parameters that support the broader property business.
- Engage and collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders—including clients, broker actuaries, client managers, reserving teams, and Swiss Re senior leadership—to evaluate deals, portfolios, and pricing assumptions using diverse data sources.
- Ensure pricing adequacy by assessing the impact of contract features, underwriting exposures, evolving legal and regulatory frameworks, and broader societal trends.
- Serve as a key representative of Swiss Re in the Property market through active engagement with clients, brokers, and industry organizations.
Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in a reinsurance or primary pricing, portfolio management or reserving function (property experience a plus)
- Strong understanding of (re)insurance underwriting, property market dynamics, and key strategic drivers influencing insurer performance.
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field required; ACAS/FCAS designation or active pursuit strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to distill and communicate complex analyses to executive-level stakeholders internally and externally.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams across geographies.
- Strong ability to incorporate market intelligence and forward-looking views into underwriting and pricing recommendations.
