About the role

  • Act as a trusted legal partner to the North America Corporate Solutions business, supporting both day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives
  • Draft, review and negotiate MGA agreements for various lines of business
  • Advise on the structuring, negotiation, and ongoing supervision of MGAs and other delegated authority arrangements
  • Support the business in managing MGA lifecycle activities, including onboarding, regulatory compliance, audits, amendments, and enforcement of contractual terms
  • Partner closely with Underwriting, Compliance, Risk, and Operations to ensure MGA models align with regulatory expectations and Swiss Re governance standards
  • Provide legal advice on U.S. insurance regulatory matters impacting Swiss Re's distribution channels, incl. MGA structures
  • Assist the business with regulatory advice, including ensuring regulatorily compliant contractual agreements across the lines of business (with a potential focus of Surety)
  • Contribute to interdisciplinary projects with Finance, Tax, Compliance, Risk, IT, Operations, and Underwriting
  • Apply Group legal policies, controls, and governance standards in a pragmatic, business-enabling manner
  • Draft, review and negotiate sourcing, vendor, outsourcing, and IT-related agreements
  • Support Procurement and business stakeholders in assessing legal, regulatory, data protection, and operational risks associated with third-party vendors

Requirements

  • Admission to the bar in at least one U.S. state
  • At 7+ years of legal experience, gained in a top-tier law firm and/or financial services or insurance environment
  • Strong experience drafting and advising on MGA arrangements, distribution models, and delegated authority frameworks
  • Understanding of U.S. insurance regulatory concepts; experience with Surety is a plus
  • Demonstrated experience in drafting and negotiating vendors, outsourcing and IT agreements
  • Ability to analyze complex issues, exercise sound judgement in ambiguous situations, and clearly explain risks to senior stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with a collaborative and solutions-oriented mindset
  • High personal integrity and comfort operating independently while aligned with Group standards
