About the role
- Provide effective, commercially sound and practical legal advice on insurance business and operations
- Advise on insurance contracts and claims
- Conduct legal and regulatory review of transactions (draft documents, negotiate the terms), instructing and managing outside counsel (as needed)
- Manage legal, regulatory & compliance issues relating to products, business strategies and operating models
- Review and negotiate commercial agreements with business partners, agents or brokers
- Monitor and advice on legal and regulatory trends affecting relevant business areas
- Engage and collaborate with members of the Asia legal team, business and functions across various jurisdictions within and outside of Asia in the provision of cross border legal support
- Support internal group projects and strategic initiatives, as needed
- Support governance activities such as participating in management committee meetings and handling internal and external approvals on appointments and other governance related matters
Requirements
- At least 10 years PQE, legal qualified lawyer from a reputable university
- Good team player and able to work in a collaborative and agile environment
- Able to work independently and collaborate with teams and stakeholders across various jurisdictions
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Good communication and cross-cultural skills
- Prior experience in (re)insurance matters & multiple jurisdictions required
- Prior experience in and good understanding of regulatory and licensing topics in cross-border scenarios
- Possess excellent drafting, negotiation and influencing skills
