About the role
- Own the organization’s social media strategy, translating organization priorities into short-form content.
- Lead day-to-day execution of social content; plan, write, edit, and approve high-quality, on-brand content with clarity, urgency, and persuasion, and cultivate the work of other contributors.
- Directly manage one full-time staff member, cultivating their skills, and manage external contributors for creative production work.
- Collaborate with the Senior Director of Editorial & Digital Campaigns to align social content with the broader editorial calendar.
- Shape and drive priorities for creative production, ensuring photo, video, graphics, design, and influencer/content-creator work are aligned with campaign and organizational goals.
- Manage relationships with influencers and content creators, developing partnerships and campaigns that expand audience and engagement.
- Manage the creative pipeline, directing workflows to ensure assets are produced quickly, on brand, and at a high level of quality.
- Help drive marketing campaign launches across digital channels in close coordination with the Senior Director of Editorial & Digital Campaigns.
- Play a lead role in rapid-response moments, quickly producing and publishing social content that is aligned with campaign priorities.
- Manage the process to capture and elevate storytelling from internal departments, volunteers, political campaigns, and grassroots partners to inform content across all marketing channels.
- Monitor performance and trends, using analytics to optimize reach, engagement, and impact across platforms.
- Maintain a sharp understanding of social media best practices and platform changes, bringing innovative approaches to audience engagement and storytelling.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in digital communications with a focus on social media and creative content production, including direct experience within the ecosystem of political campaigns / electoral work.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills; able to shape and steward a compelling, consistent voice across channels, with knack for short-form and creative content.
- Track record of using social media and creative content to drive grassroots fundraising, engagement, and mobilization at scale, including during rapid-response moments.
- Demonstrated experience managing and cultivating the work of other contributors.
- Ability to manage complex calendars, uphold brand consistency, and juggle competing deadlines with grace.
- Skilled at analyzing performance across channels and translating insights into strategy.
- Ability to create graphics for use across social media channels.
- Commitment to equity and belonging across all identities, and ability to learn and grow in this space.
- Ability to work irregular hours when needed during rapid response/peak moments.
