Director

• Directly supervise data and research staff and contractors; oversee their work and development
• Lead the process to set and integrate data & research team goals and to develop, prioritize, implement, and execute a thoughtful quantitative and qualitative research and analytics agenda to increase the efficacy of Swing Left and Vote Forward’s programs over the long term
• Lead research / analytics projects to support the development, execution, and evaluation of high-quality programs, such as randomized trials to evaluate program efficacy, analysis of on-platform user behavior, surveys, reports on program metrics and performance, and other methodologies as needed
• Communicate about findings and their implications to stakeholders, including colleagues, volunteers, partner organizations, and the public
• Prospect, develop, manage, and execute deep research and data partnerships around Vote Forward and Swing Left data, including working with external partners to conduct randomized controlled trials and to leverage data for messaging and other novel use cases
• Collaborate with academic and other external partners to improve the organization’s research and analytics knowledge and capabilities
• Define and oversee the building, testing, maintenance, and documentation of relevant data stores, tools, and infrastructure, in coordination with data and research, product, and engineering teams
• Collaborate with stakeholders in the development and submission of research grant proposals

Director of Data and Research

Data Engineer

• Lead the development of ETL pipelines and Data Lake infrastructure within Swing left and Vote Forward, and usher the solutions into production
• Perform ETL and Sanitation on disparate data flows from multiple internal and external sources
• Maintain data security, quality, and performance with details documentation and decide on tradeoffs between technical designs
• Lead data governance and user attribution strategy across all products and programs
• Develop and oversee processes to ensure organization-wide creation of metrics and data-driven goals are strategic, measurable, and achievable
• Provide leadership with guidance on the resourcing requirements for data and analytics, as informed by organizational goals and roadmaps
• Collaborate with The Movement Cooperative and other external partners as a representative of Swing Left and Vote Forward
• Manage 3rd party integrations with sources like Phoenix, NGPVAN, and ActBlue, and serve as point of contact for their teams

Staff Data Engineer

Full-stack Engineer

• Develop and implement solutions for swingleft.org, votefwd.org, and other special-purpose mini-sites to facilitate improvements such as increased signups, improved conversions, and better support for volunteers
• Collaborate with the product team to align goals, set priorities, and develop product requirements against measurable objectives
• Drive change through leadership on the engineering team, help guide the development process, and elevate our internal software standards
• Ship high quality, well-tested code while making considerations for usability and scaling concerns
• Support the development of a scalable, transparent, and accessible data infrastructure
• Implement and maintain integrations with 3rd party tools and data providers
• Collaborate across user testing, experimental design, analytics design, product rollout, retrospectives and product iteration
• Maintain CI/CD and monitoring tools that enable fast iteration and timely response to incidents
• Help lead the technical aspects of organizational rapid-response efforts
• Identify engineering opportunities for new focus and optimization; collaborate with and lead other engineers in areas of expertise
