About the role
- Engage in financial analysis and modelling of compensation activities to gauge the need for updates to compensation design and create business cases for leadership to support these changes.
- Decompose problem statements into a set of hypotheses and potential solutions, validating through both quantitative (e.g., financial analysis, impact analysis) and qualitative analyses (e.g., competitor benchmarking and case studies, sourcing and synthesizing expert perspectives).
- Lead problem solving sessions, workshops and interviews with subject matter experts to bring in new perspectives, creative ideas, and practical approaches to problems and issues.
- Synthesize qualitative and quantitative analytical results to guide recommendations and inform strategic decision making.
- Communicate findings and recommendations succinctly in a compelling storyline that facilitates productive discussion and decision making among senior executives.
- Maintain and enhance a compensation monitoring dashboard, this includes leading process improvements and engaging in timely reporting.
- Monitor sales results vs costs, advisor and field leader attrition, teaming, potential gaming signs, exceptions, strategic action bonuses, NAFYC and dealer revenue, presenting key findings to leaders and proposing solutions in line with risk management strategies.
- Lead competitive intelligence, benchmarking, and research on advisor compensation trends within the industry.
Requirements
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant business experience, ideally within insurance or financial services; knowledge of Sun Life’s businesses would be an asset.
- University degree in business or related discipline; MBA or other relevant advance degree is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of distribution, wealth and/or insurance space; previous compensation design experience is an asset.
- Strong creative and analytical problem solver, with a solid background working with data, conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis, interpreting results, and writing reports/presentations to executive audiences.
- Experience in quantitative and financial analytics, including using modelling tools and techniques is an asset.
- Resourceful and rapid learner, able to work across many topics and domains.
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills; able to effectively collaborate with multiple stakeholders across multiple teams.
