About the role
- Responsible for determining berth availability, local port conditions, and terminal orders and requirements.
- Provide ships captains and Principals with pre-arrival lists of requirements for port entry.
- Contact local pilots to obtain services for assigned vessels.
- Assist with ships’ crew lodgings, travel, and transportation arrangements for Principals.
- Assist Principals with obtaining various services needed by vessels while in port.
- Perform ship boarding duties upon arrival and at departure of assigned vessels, collecting required documentation.
- Prepare and ensure the accuracy of pre-arrival documentation and visitor/vendor lists for vessels.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Administration, Business Administration, or related major from a public or accredited private academic institution desired.
- 0-4 years’ experience in general maritime industry with exposure to various commodities and vessel types utilized in the port of employment.
- Agents are expected to travel around specific port/terminal locations and surrounding areas and must possess their own reliable transportation, a valid 'non-expired' state drivers' license, and vehicle insurance coverage.
