About the role

  • Deliver online special education instruction and support students based on Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Ensure all special education and related services are provided as determined by the IEP team
  • Communicate with parents and related service staff to ensure appropriate therapies and supports
  • Develop compliant IEPs, progress reports and state-specific special education documentation
  • Facilitate and lead collaborative special education meetings, including annual IEP meetings
  • Make accommodations and modifications to lessons and assessments as specified by IEPs
  • Ensure inclusion and success of students in the general education classroom
  • Collect data and work samples to monitor progress toward IEP goals and document contacts/interventions
  • Analyze student data to prescribe remediation and enrichment and maintain grade book integrity
  • Provide synchronous and asynchronous engaging learning experiences and support learning coaches/parents
  • Prepare students for standardized tests and participate in school-related duties as assigned
  • Travel up to 20% for face-to-face professional development, student testing, or as required by the school

Requirements

  • Active Special Education Certificate/Active State Special Education teaching license
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Ability to clear required background check
  • Residency requirement: Texas (may consider NM, OK, AR or LA)
  • Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week
  • Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during workday (typically 8am-5pm CT)
  • Ability to travel up to 20% for face-to-face professional development and student testing
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers and interpret student data
  • Receptive to receiving coaching on a regular basis with administrators
  • Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint
  • Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
