About the role
- Provides legal advice and serves as in-house counsel to Strategic Education on a wide variety of matters.
- Assist with federal regulatory matters related to two accredited institutions of higher education.
- Assist with litigation and administrative proceedings to which the company is a party.
- Provide legal analysis and advice to administrators on policy matters, especially regulatory compliance issues.
- Investigate legal issues and recommend action to administrators.
- Negotiate and draft contracts: draft legal documents and policies.
- Research federal and state legal questions.
- Assist with general corporate matters.
- Review university programs, procedures, and policies for legal compliance.
- Provide legal and compliance training to in-house clients.
Requirements
- At least three years of experience in the practice of law
- Higher education experience preferred
- Experience in consumer protection law preferred (in-house, law firm, or government position)
- Bachelor’s degree and JD from an ABA-accredited law school
- Bar admission in Virginia, Minnesota, Maryland, or Washington, DC
