About the role
- Join our development team as Engineering Manager!
- At Twin Harbour Interactive we strive to develop high-quality strategy games and make them accessible for all players around the world
- You will lead multiple engineering teams to deliver our game backend and platform services
- You will oversee ~12 developers across three tracks
- Focus on microservice extraction from our PHP monolith, improving and modularizing our game server, and enhancing our core platform/operations infrastructure
- Leadership and mentorship focus; hands-off coding
- Collaborate with producers and other stakeholders to align engineering initiatives with product and business goals
- English fluency required; German is a plus
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in software development as an individual contributor, and at least 2+ years in an engineering leadership or management role
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing engineering teams
- Experience with hiring, people management, and coaching engineers at different levels
- Strong software engineering foundation – technically credible and comfortable discussing architecture and code
- Experience with Node.js, PHP, or Java (and associated backend frameworks) is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools into engineering workflows and promote their usage within teams
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English
- Empathetic listener and clear communicator capable of navigating conflicts
- Track record of working with cross-functional stakeholders to drive projects to completion
- Hands-on experience with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
- Solid organizational skills to manage priorities across multiple teams
- Strong analytical and decision-making abilities
- Ability to make fair, timely decisions in ambiguous situations and think strategically
- Enthusiastic about games, especially strategy games
- Experience in gaming industry or genuine interest in game development is a bonus
