About the role

  • Join our development team as Engineering Manager!
  • At Twin Harbour Interactive we strive to develop high-quality strategy games and make them accessible for all players around the world
  • You will lead multiple engineering teams to deliver our game backend and platform services
  • You will oversee ~12 developers across three tracks
  • Focus on microservice extraction from our PHP monolith, improving and modularizing our game server, and enhancing our core platform/operations infrastructure
  • Leadership and mentorship focus; hands-off coding
  • Collaborate with producers and other stakeholders to align engineering initiatives with product and business goals
  • English fluency required; German is a plus

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in software development as an individual contributor, and at least 2+ years in an engineering leadership or management role
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing engineering teams
  • Experience with hiring, people management, and coaching engineers at different levels
  • Strong software engineering foundation – technically credible and comfortable discussing architecture and code
  • Experience with Node.js, PHP, or Java (and associated backend frameworks) is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools into engineering workflows and promote their usage within teams
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English
  • Empathetic listener and clear communicator capable of navigating conflicts
  • Track record of working with cross-functional stakeholders to drive projects to completion
  • Hands-on experience with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
  • Solid organizational skills to manage priorities across multiple teams
  • Strong analytical and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to make fair, timely decisions in ambiguous situations and think strategically
  • Enthusiastic about games, especially strategy games
  • Experience in gaming industry or genuine interest in game development is a bonus
