About the role

Join our development team as Engineering Manager!
At Twin Harbour Interactive we strive to develop high-quality strategy games and make them accessible for all players around the world
You will lead multiple engineering teams to deliver our game backend and platform services
You will oversee ~12 developers across three tracks
Focus on microservice extraction from our PHP monolith, improving and modularizing our game server, and enhancing our core platform/operations infrastructure
Leadership and mentorship focus; hands-off coding
Collaborate with producers and other stakeholders to align engineering initiatives with product and business goals
English fluency required; German is a plus

5+ years of experience in software development as an individual contributor, and at least 2+ years in an engineering leadership or management role
Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing engineering teams
Experience with hiring, people management, and coaching engineers at different levels
Strong software engineering foundation – technically credible and comfortable discussing architecture and code
Experience with Node.js, PHP, or Java (and associated backend frameworks) is a plus
Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools into engineering workflows and promote their usage within teams
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English
Empathetic listener and clear communicator capable of navigating conflicts
Track record of working with cross-functional stakeholders to drive projects to completion
Hands-on experience with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
Solid organizational skills to manage priorities across multiple teams
Strong analytical and decision-making abilities
Ability to make fair, timely decisions in ambiguous situations and think strategically
Enthusiastic about games, especially strategy games
Experience in gaming industry or genuine interest in game development is a bonus
