About the role
- You have found your passion in software development, but you enjoy building the right team, removing roadblocks, helping others, creating transparency, and alignment even more than being an individual contributor
- Depending on your experience, you will be responsible for the engineers of 1–3 product teams in a "you-build-it-you-run-it" environment
- Depending on the number of people and teams you lead, you will still contribute hands-on for a portion of your time
- You will help our engineers grow personally and professionally — not only by advancing their technical skills, but also by inspiring them through purpose
- You ensure we leverage (new) technologies within our product teams to build products customers love and that work for the business
- You are responsible for product delivery while balancing time, budget, and quality
- You will contribute to strategic initiatives that span beyond your team(s), such as raising the engineering bar, improving our guidelines, and defining how we work as an organization
Requirements
- You have worked in cross-functional product teams and bring extensive experience in engineering scalable web applications
- You are an experienced Engineering Manager who solves engineering problems with tools and frameworks that make sense for both the problem domain and the engineering organization; the team’s tech stack is predominantly PHP and JavaScript, and we expect you to have hands-on experience with these languages
- You demonstrate an outstanding sense of ownership, passion, and drive that energizes the team
- Your communication skills are excellent, and you understand what matters—especially in a remote setup
- You already have experience in a management role and in building successful teams, and you are motivated to grow further as an Engineering Manager
- You are a natural go-to person within your organization, mentoring other engineers and helping them grow and succeed
- You are willing to go the extra mile to make your team successful, you give honest feedback, and you can discuss, commit, and execute
- You are fluent in English (C1) and enjoy working in an international environment
