About the role

  • Provide technical assistance to towns and administer the town grant program.
  • Respond to emergency situations such as flooding and other natural disasters.
  • Monitor access to state highways and any work done in the State right-of-way.
  • Provide technical assistance to district crews for various roadway repairs.
  • May provide oversight for district projects.
  • Reviews plans for construction projects.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in civil engineering, environmental technology, engineering technology, surveying, construction technology or architecture AND one (1) year or more of experience performing engineering support tasks involved in one or more of the following: roadway construction, design, traffic operations, surveys, or materials, inspection, construction, research and statistics, testing, materials investigation, maintenance or construction of various types of civil engineering projects INCLUDING one (1) year or more of supervisory experience.
  • OR Bachelor's in civil engineering, environmental technology, engineering technology, surveying, construction technology or architecture AND three (3) years or more of experience performing engineering support tasks involved in one or more of the following: roadway construction, design, traffic operations, surveys, or materials, inspection, construction, research and statistics, testing, materials investigation, maintenance or construction of various types of civil engineering projects INCLUDING one (1) year or more of supervisory experience.
  • OR Associate's degree in civil engineering, environmental technology, engineering technology, surveying, construction technology or architecture AND five (5) years or more of experience performing engineering support tasks involved in one or more of the following: roadway construction, design, traffic operations, surveys, or materials, inspection, construction, research and statistics, testing, materials investigation, maintenance or construction of various types of civil engineering projects INCLUDING one (1) year or more of supervisory experience.
  • OR High School diploma or equivalent AND seven (7) years or more of experience performing engineering support tasks involved in one or more of the following: roadway construction, design, traffic operations, surveys, or materials, inspection, construction, research and statistics, testing, materials investigation, maintenance or construction of various types of civil engineering projects INCLUDING one (1) year or more of supervisory experience.
