About the role
- This is a professional-level position in Environmental Health (EH).
- This is a field position responsible for conducting regulatory inspections in Environmental Health programs.
- The position will report to the OSTDS Environmental Supervisor.
- Conducts field inspections in the OSTDS program, ensuring compliance with environmental health rules and regulations.
- Responds to public health nuisance complaints, initiating investigation and inspection procedures.
- Initiates investigations within two (2) working days after receipt.
- Assists with enforcement actions of nuisance complaints, gathers evidence, and participate in hearings.
- Maintains record of all inspections and site visits.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Requirements
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.
- A bachelor’s degree from an U.S. accredited college or university with a minimum of 30 credit hours in a related science field (Environmental Health, Environmental Science or a Physical or Biological Science).
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds and must be able to move freely around various inspection sites and work outside in high heat and humid conditions.
- Must be willing and able to attend out of town meetings and training sessions for several days on occasion.
- Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours in the event of a disaster or as needed.
