About the role
- Provides comprehensive nursing services including, but not limited to: patient histories, vital signs, phlebotomy, obtaining urine specimens for various tests, obtaining capillary and venous blood samples.
- Provides immunizations according to CDC guidelines and protocols.
- Performs screenings such as hearing, vision, height, and weight.
- Issues medications under nurse protocols or physician/ARNP direction.
- Provides patient health education and counseling.
- Assists medical providers in the clinics and with procedures.
- Assures accurate and complete medical record documentation in Electronic Health Record format.
- Assures patient care and work areas are maintained in a safe and orderly fashion.
- Provides triage of patient needs and determines appropriate follow-up.
- Reports immediately to the Nursing Director or Assistant Nursing Director, any areas of concern.
- While conducting clinics, this position provides health education and counseling for clients.
- Maintains treatment records along with interpreting physician orders and recommendations.
- Maintains a knowledge base concerning all Public Health Programs such as but not limited to: Chronic Disease, Tuberculosis, and Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Epidemiology, HIV and Immunizations.
- Completes Rabies investigation training and assists with investigation Animal Bite Reports as they relate to potential need to Prophylaxis and medical follow up.
- Performs other duties as requested by supervisor.
Requirements
- Free and clear license as a registered nurse
- One year experience as a registered nurse
- Willing to travel between Dixie, Gilchrist and Levy County Health Departments
- Have a driver's license
- Basic computer skills
- Bilingual in Spanish is preferred but not required.
