About the role

  • Provides comprehensive nursing services including, but not limited to: patient histories, vital signs, phlebotomy, obtaining urine specimens for various tests, obtaining capillary and venous blood samples.
  • Provides immunizations according to CDC guidelines and protocols.
  • Performs screenings such as hearing, vision, height, and weight.
  • Issues medications under nurse protocols or physician/ARNP direction.
  • Provides patient health education and counseling.
  • Assists medical providers in the clinics and with procedures.
  • Assures accurate and complete medical record documentation in Electronic Health Record format.
  • Assures patient care and work areas are maintained in a safe and orderly fashion.
  • Provides triage of patient needs and determines appropriate follow-up.
  • Reports immediately to the Nursing Director or Assistant Nursing Director, any areas of concern.
  • While conducting clinics, this position provides health education and counseling for clients.
  • Maintains treatment records along with interpreting physician orders and recommendations.
  • Maintains a knowledge base concerning all Public Health Programs such as but not limited to: Chronic Disease, Tuberculosis, and Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Epidemiology, HIV and Immunizations.
  • Completes Rabies investigation training and assists with investigation Animal Bite Reports as they relate to potential need to Prophylaxis and medical follow up.
  • Performs other duties as requested by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Free and clear license as a registered nurse
  • One year experience as a registered nurse
  • Willing to travel between Dixie, Gilchrist and Levy County Health Departments
  • Have a driver's license
  • Basic computer skills
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred but not required.
