About the role

  • Responsible for processing new employees, including completion of forms, Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) checks, prior employment verification and verifying eligibility for employment.
  • Processes actions into HR Information System (HRIS) (I.e., promotions, adjustments, transfers, terms) and creating a Report of Personnel Action.
  • Assists employees with leaves of absence without pay and other HR issues.
  • Maintains scanned personnel files.
  • Maintains position numbers.
  • Prepares and posts job advertisements to Governmentjobs.com, People First and other local job boards and responds to requests for applications to fill open positions.
  • Processes outside employment applications.
  • Runs FDLE checks on Volunteers.
  • Keeps up to date with new forms required by law (e.g., new Form I-9).
  • Participates in the planning and administration of new Legislators’, Pages’, and interns’ orientation sessions.
  • Completing claims filed for assigned units.
  • Reports issues with the HRIS Onboarding and Applicant Tracking applications and works with vendor to resolve.
  • Opens, date stamps and distributes incoming mail.
  • Recommends new personnel policies and procedures and changes to existing ones.
  • Performs special assignments, prepares reports and drafts letters in response as directed by the Employment Manager and/or HR Director.
  • Completes employment verifications (verbal and written).
  • Researches, proposes improvements and tests enhancements in the HRIS.
  • Aides in formulating, interpreting, applying, and assuring conformance with Joint Policies and Procedures and customer’s administrative policies and procedures.
  • Provides Notary Public services to legislative employees.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Professional or nonprofessional human resource experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
