About the role

  • Responsible for conducting and completing aviation missions in support of FDLE investigations
  • Conduct protective operations
  • Provide mutual aid during incidents
  • Perform activities in support of the Aviation Unit and the Office of Strategic Justice Programs
  • Participate in flight operations procedures
  • Involved in maintenance tasks
  • Engage in safety efforts of the Aviation Unit

Requirements

  • Certification by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as a commercial pilot with an instrument rating
  • Possess a multi-engine fixed wing rating
  • At least 50 hours of night flight time
  • 50 hours of instrument flight time
  • 500 hours multi-engine Pilot in Command
  • Minimum of 1500 hours total flight time
  • Must possess or obtain a valid FAA Class II medical certificate prior to employment
  • Type rating for a Cessna Citation 680A (Latitude / Sovereign) preferred
  • Airline Transport Pilot’s certificate preferred
  • Sworn law enforcement experience preferred
  • Florida law enforcement certification preferred
  • Four-year degree from accredited college or university preferred
  • Type rating for a Beechcraft King Air 350 preferred
  • Flight instructor certification preferred
  • Rotorcraft Helicopter rating preferred
  • Certified A&P Mechanic, with or without inspection authority preferred
  • Aviation Program Management experience preferred
