About the role

  • Approve, disapprove, or modify recommendations from the Institutional Classification Team (ICT) for the assigned institutions.
  • Approves, disapproves or modifies all custody recommendations that include an exception to the system generated suggested custody.
  • Approves, disapproves or modifies all community and minimum custody recommendations.
  • Approves, disapproves or modifies all Close Management recommendations including initial recommendation for placement in Close Management and recommendations for release.
  • Approves, disapproves or modifies all Protective Management recommendations including initial recommendation for placement and recommendations for release.
  • Approves, disapproves or modifies all work release center recommendations.
  • Participates in regularly scheduled State Classification Office meetings.
  • Provides on-site assistance in the event of an institutional disturbance to assess and facilitate transfers.
  • Reviews and placement of ranked inmates to participate in programs.
  • Ensures uniform application of Department’s rules and procedures for the Faith and Character Based program.

Requirements

  • Official transcripts will be required if selected for this position.
  • Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Must possess supervisory experience.
  • Must possess five (5) or more years of experience in Classification with the Florida Department of Corrections.
  • Support of knowledge, skills, and abilities should be demonstrated on the application, in the education, in the work experience, in the work sample, in the interview and/or during reference checks.
