About the role
- Administer a statewide program for initial and continued approval of all educator preparation programs.
- Administer and coordinate a statewide review process for the initial and continued approval of all Level 1 educational leadership programs, including preparation of the final institutional report.
- Manage the development, coordination, and delivery of training for all educator preparation program review processes.
- Administer planning, organization, and coordination of reviews of (1) curriculum folios; (2) Institutional Program Evaluation Plans (IPEP) for initial teacher preparation programs (ITPs); (3) Annual Program Evaluation Plans (APEPs) for educator preparation institutes (EPIs) ; (4) District Program Evaluation Plans (DPEPs) for professional learning certification programs (PLCPs); and 5) on-site visits to institutions and districts undergoing the state’s process for continued approval of all educator preparation programs.
- Formulate and recommend policies and procedures for educator preparation program development, operation and evaluation.
- Administer and provide programmatic oversight for the Teacher Apprenticeship Program, in partnership with the Retention and Professional Learning unit in the Bureau of Educator Recruitment, Development and Retention.
- Manage the rule development process for statutes and rules assigned to the Educator Preparation Team, from inception through to State Board of Education adoption.
- Manage and, when necessary, collaborate with other Department teams on bill analyses as assigned.
- Administer contracts related to educator preparation with outside consultants.
- Administer grant applications, projects and deliverables for specific grants assigned.
- Provide technical assistance to university, college and school district personnel regarding educator preparation programs.
- Act as the state liaison to the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).
Requirements
- Four years of professional experience in education or related field.
- Ability to prepare reports; to develop, evaluate, and interpret programs, policies and procedures.
- Ability to travel.
- Ability to communicate effectively including verbal and written communication.
- Applicants who have knowledge of local, state, and federal laws related to Educational Leadership and Professional Learning.
- Applicants who have knowledge of Professional Learning Systems and Catalogs.
