About the role
- Supervises employees communicating, motivating, training, and evaluating employees
- Plans and directs workloads and deadlines with subordinate staff
- Provides direction and ensures subordinates receive training
- Plans and directs routine maintenance activities on the state highway system
- Provides technical assistance on repair methods to maintenance field crews
- Analyzes work needs and provides engineering judgment for solutions
- Schedules and plans maintenance activities based on surveys or complaints
- Prepares reports and ensures compliance with inspections
- Investigates and responds to complaints from the public
- Communicates with local government officials and civic groups regarding resolution of complaints
- Monitoring state highway system to determine objectives and priorities
Requirements
- Must obtain certification in Temporary Traffic Control (Maintenance of Traffic) - Advanced Level within one year
- Valid Class E Driver License is required
- Must have an acceptable driving record in accordance with the Department’s Driver’s Record Requirements Policy
- Knowledge of maintenance rating program
- Knowledge of personnel procedures and rules
- Knowledge of purchasing rules and regulations
- Knowledge of safety practices and procedures
