About the role
- Directly responsible for the implementation and direction of all state forestry activities of the Perry District.
- Overall responsibility for the unit's four County forest fire prevention, detection, and suppression programs; administration and directing activities in Dixie, Lafayette, Madison, and Taylor counties.
- Communicating with, motivating, providing, or coordinating training, and directing the work of subordinates.
- Completing timely performance appraisals, developing accurate work plans, and timely approving attendance and leave for each subordinate.
- Managing budget/dollars/resources efficiently and accountably.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in forestry and three (3) years of professional, administrative or supervisory forestry experience
- A master's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in forestry and two (2) years of experience as described above
- Experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
- Must be a nonuser of tobacco or tobacco products for at least one year immediately preceding application.
- Must possess a valid driver license.
