About the role
- Function in a paraprofessional role providing health support services in assigned schools
- Part of a team providing support for the delivery of school health services to students
- Perform under the direct supervision of the Senior Community Health Nursing Supervisor
- Travel to work/alternate sites as assigned
- Communicate effectively with a diverse population including parents in English and Spanish or Creole
- Observe and follow applied federal, state, and local laws and maintain student confidentiality
- Provide health services and follow appropriate measures according to established protocols
- Document findings and assist with health screenings
- Monitor health and safety hazards and inventory supplies
- Participate in cross-training activities and community health fairs
Requirements
- Certification as a medical assistant, patient care technician or in a related field
- Valid driver's license
- Private automobile to perform work-related duties
- Preferred bilingual in English and Spanish or English and Creole
