About the role
- Provides visitor services, maintenance, protection, administration, and resource management at Weeki Wachee Springs State Park.
- Explains facilities and services provided for public use, enjoyment and education.
- Meets visitors, answers questions, provides information and directions.
- Recognizes biological communities and implements vegetation and wildlife management plans.
- Maintains park structures, facilities, equipment and grounds through routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance practices.
- Prepares forms and reports on a range of subjects including visitation and vehicle usage.
- Performs routine patrols and security checks; ensures adherence to the Park Protection Plan.
Requirements
- Valid Driver’s license.
- Knowledge of Florida’s natural and cultural resources.
- Skill in communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
- Skill in operating a cash register and reconciling receipts accurately.
- Skill in preparing reports.
- Skill in interacting with all internal and external customers and the general public in a professional, tactful, and courteous manner.
- Ability to perform grounds and building maintenance which includes mowing, weed eating, pressure washing, and painting.
- Ability to utilize power tools, including chain saws and drills.
- Ability to perform basic plumbing, including repairing hose bibs, waterline repair.
- Ability to perform basic electrical work, including replacing outlets and circuit breakers.
- Ability to perform basic carpentry, including boardwalk and fence repairs.
- Ability to utilize a computer including software programs such as Microsoft Office Suite.
