About the role

  • This position drives or operates various motor vehicles such as a bus, 15-passenger van, truck or other motor vehicles. (Excluding semi tractor and trailer operator.)
  • This position transports residents to doctor appointments and activities or outings.
  • This position may move controls to drive gasoline or electric-powered trucks, cars, or vehicles and transports materials or people between destinations or work areas.
  • This position performs routine maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment, such as cleaning, lubricating, recharging batteries, fueling, or replacing liquefied-gas tank.
  • This position manually loads or unloads materials onto or off vehicle.
  • This position inspects vehicle, and checks gas, oil, and water before departure and performs routine maintenance.
  • This position reports delays or accidents.
  • This position serves as Activities/Motor Vehicle Operator assigned to the Activities Department in a State Veterans' Nursing Home and reports to the Activities Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid Florida driver's license.
  • Willingness and ability to communicate effectively in English; speaking, understand, reading and writing.
  • Must possess excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have basic or better computer skills.
  • Willingness and ability to safely transport residents in facility vehicles.
  • Must be willing and able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must have knowledge and able to perform routine maintenance of vehicles.
  • Must successfully complete a background screening to include, but not limited to, a drug test and finger printing.
  • Must be willing and able to work weekends, evenings or holidays as required.
