About the role
- The OPS Family Support Worker provides breastfeeding education and support to WIC clients in various locations throughout the county.
- Position provides services in the WIC Program according to the state WIC Program policies and regulations.
- Work in Naples WIC headquarters and may work in Immokalee on occasions.
- Educate WIC pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum mothers and family members on breastfeeding-related issues.
- Assist in breastfeeding classes and support groups.
- Document breastfeeding contacts in the FL-Wise system in accordance with department policy.
- Manage caseload of assigned WIC clients and contact clients according to established procedures.
- Coordinate services for clients and make referrals to appropriate agencies as needed.
- Attend mandatory and scheduled trainings.
Requirements
- Minimum: Bi-lingual in English/Spanish or English/Creole.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Willing to be on-call at night or weekends (up to 9pm to at night and weekends 8am to 9pm).
- Valid Florida Driver’s license.
- Reliable transportation that you are willing to use for work-related purposes.
- Preferred: Prior experience in WIC or other nutritional programs.
- Prior experience providing breastfeeding education and support to individuals.
