About the role

  • The OPS Family Support Worker provides breastfeeding education and support to WIC clients in various locations throughout the county.
  • Position provides services in the WIC Program according to the state WIC Program policies and regulations.
  • Work in Naples WIC headquarters and may work in Immokalee on occasions.
  • Educate WIC pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum mothers and family members on breastfeeding-related issues.
  • Assist in breastfeeding classes and support groups.
  • Document breastfeeding contacts in the FL-Wise system in accordance with department policy.
  • Manage caseload of assigned WIC clients and contact clients according to established procedures.
  • Coordinate services for clients and make referrals to appropriate agencies as needed.
  • Attend mandatory and scheduled trainings.

Requirements

  • Minimum: Bi-lingual in English/Spanish or English/Creole.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Willing to be on-call at night or weekends (up to 9pm to at night and weekends 8am to 9pm).
  • Valid Florida Driver’s license.
  • Reliable transportation that you are willing to use for work-related purposes.
  • Preferred: Prior experience in WIC or other nutritional programs.
  • Prior experience providing breastfeeding education and support to individuals.
