About the role

  • Provides visitor services at Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park.
  • Maintains and repairs captive wildlife exhibits, park grounds, facilities and equipment.
  • Cares for captive wildlife and protects natural resources.
  • Prepares forms and reports regarding park management.
  • Operates park radio and maintains logs.
  • Ensures visitor and wildlife safety through routine patrols.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Knowledge of animal husbandry principles and techniques
  • General maintenance and repair techniques
  • Ability to conduct routine inspections
  • Identify, assess and investigate problems related to animal husbandry
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Prepare reports
  • Understand and apply rules and regulations
  • Maintain facilities and equipment
  • Operate two-way radio
  • Perform manual labor including lifting animals, supplies and materials
  • Work independently and exercise good judgment
  • Conduct interpretive programs on a daily basis
