About the role
- Plan, coordinate, and supervise construction projects from start to finish.
- Oversee daily operations on construction sites.
- Manage schedules and costs, coordinate subcontractors and suppliers.
- Review blueprints and contracts, ensuring compliance with building codes and regulations.
- Communicate regularly with clients, architects, engineers, and workers to address challenges.
- Resolve issues and track progress while maintaining a safe work environment.
- Participate in employee orientation, training, counseling, and performance evaluations.
- Monitor contractor activities to ensure compliance with contract documents.
- Prepare responses to contractor's requests for changes to the contract documents.
- Conduct public relations activities to resolve conflicts with citizens affected by projects.
Requirements
- Knowledge of the concepts, terminology, principles of road and bridge construction and maintenance.
- Knowledge of engineering design, construction, production and/or operations.
- Knowledge of Construction Project Administration Manual.
- Knowledge of conflict resolution and negotiating techniques.
- Skills in contract administration and related activities between the department and contractor.
- Skills in using computer software applications.
- Skills in utilizing problem solving techniques.
- Ability to determine work priorities, assign work, and ensure proper completion of work assignments.
- Ability to implement programs necessary to achieve objectives.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to supervise people.
- Ability to direct, monitor and inspect engineering projects.
- Ability to analyze and interpret engineering data.
- Licensure with the State Board of Professional Engineers under Chapter 471 Florida Statutes.
- A valid Class E Driver’s License is required.
