About the role

  • This position performs a variety of clerical and health support functions in the Special Supplemental Nutrition for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program at the Florida Department of Health.
  • Work includes taking weight and height measurements of WIC clients and performing hematological tests necessary for WIC certification.
  • Performs varied clerical and health support duties that require independent judgement based upon information found in the DHM 150-24 Policy and Procedure Manual.
  • Maintains documentation of calibration of hematological equipment.
  • Maintains a log of hematological testing on WIC participants.
  • Communicates administrative and clerical policies and procedures to clients.
  • Issues WIC benefits to program participants.
  • Organizes and maintains WIC records, filing systems and inventories of medical supplies and WIC materials.

Requirements

  • Minimum – Willing to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency.
  • Willing to travel to different WIC sites in Lake County
  • Preferred – Work experience performing Nutrition Educator duties in a health care setting
  • Work experience certifying or recertifying clients in a WIC program
  • Work experience providing training to staff or co-workers
  • Experience speaking, writing and reading the Spanish language
