About the role
- Direct and manages administration to ensure fulfillment of contractual obligations of contractors, and consulting architects and engineers for the design and/or construction administration phase of their contract.
- Thoroughly inspects assigned projects to verify compliance with construction/bid documents.
- Manage projects utilizing effective construction administration procedures without deviation, to meet project schedules and budgets.
- Uses state vehicle for site inspection and meetings.
- Schedules and chairs project related conferences and inspections with appropriate personnel in an organized professional manner.
- Manages projects to ensure quality workmanship to meet and/or exceed Design and Construction section’s standards and industry standards.
- Reviews change orders for fairness and accuracy.
- Evaluates pay invoices to ensure work has been accomplished appropriately; approves and processes promptly in accordance with Finance and Accounting procedures.
- Verifies permitting conditions have been met by the contractor.
- Complies with established purchasing rules and regulations during assigned project implementation.
- Carefully reviews pre-bid construction documents prepared by consultants or staff with regard to construction methods and techniques, and minimizes errors and/or omissions, without delaying design completion.
- Maintains construction files in a neatly organized, pre-audit condition.
Requirements
- Valid Driver license.
- Travel
- Knowledge of Construction Principles, practices, techniques, materials and equipment.
- Architecture/engineering design, construction, production and/or operations.
- General construction (design standards and construction administration).
- Material and labor cost analysis/estimating.
- Skill in computer word processing for reports, correspondence, etc.
- Planning, organizing and coordinating building construction program activities.
- Implementing and managing architecture/engineering contracts.
- Analyzing and interpreting architecture/engineering data.
- Applying engineering quantitative techniques.
- Monitoring and inspecting construction projects.
- Verbal and written conveyance of architectural and engineering information.
- Solving problems relating to architecture/engineering.
- Understanding and applying applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
