About the role
- Managing engineering projects at all stages including planning, preliminary design, detailed design, tender/construction support and maintenance.
- Working and building relationships with clients to effectively deliver projects and grow the team’s business.
- Performs structural engineering design and review tasks on assigned port and marine structures related projects.
- Perform & review calculations along with structural analysis and modeling.
- Lead the preparation of engineering project documents including drawings, reports, specifications and costs estimates, client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects.
- Recognizes when technical problems are developing and initiates appropriate corrective actions.
- Utilizes relevant software programs including SAP2000 to prepare analysis, design, and complex working drawings.
- Lead all aspects of the project which may require meeting with clients, contractors, stakeholders, regulatory authorities, and reviewing agency personnel.
- Lead meetings to review project and proposal milestones, confirm resource needs, review client expectations, facilitate inter-office work collaboration, and plan team building activities.
- Lead the preparation proposal documents including scope/schedule/fee resourcing plans.
Requirements
- Strong communication skills, including an aptitude for value based leadership and people management.
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary design teams in the successful execution of infrastructure projects.
- Experienced with managing project financials, including developing project fees, project forecasting and invoicing.
- Strong understanding of all phases of infrastructure projects, including conventional and alternative delivery methods for public and private clients.
- Ability to effectively discuss and make presentations related to project plans, milestone updates, and technical issues with clients and stakeholders.
- Possesses excellent time-management skills; thorough understanding of task assignment and schedule, budgeting and efficient use of time and resources.
- Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.
- Strong understanding of relevant design software, which may include AutoCAD, SAP2000, Civil3D, GIS, MathCAD, and MS Excel Macros.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil/Structural Engineering or related field.
- Must be a Licensed Professional Engineer with registration in BC.
- Minimum of 8-12 years of experience.
- Previous experience in port and marine terminals design working with multidiscipline teams on a wide variety of Ports & Marine Terminals projects including a variety of marine structures.
