About the role
- Support and participate in field programs for hydrologic, hydraulic, climatic, and geomorphic data collection and monitoring
- Assist interdisciplinary teams with baseline water quality/quantity studies, river assessments, and monitoring programs
- Support hydrometric and climatological site selection and study design
- Assist in the development and calibration of hydrologic and hydraulic models
- Compile, manage, and analyze hydrometric, hydrogeologic, climate, water quality, water use, and geomorphic datasets
- Contribute to technical reporting, including documentation of river processes and channel assessments
- Support drone (UAV) surveys for site mapping, photogrammetry, and monitoring
- Assist with proposal preparation, including scope development and budget estimates
- Support senior staff in project coordination and client communication
- Follow and contribute to safe work practices and project-specific safety plans
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or environmental science
- 2 years’ related experience, or an acceptable combination of education and experience
- Proficient in hydrologic modeling and analysis software, including HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, HEC-SSP, PCSWMM
- Proficient in statistical analysis software, including R, HEC-SSP
- Proficient in GIS mapping software, including Q-GIS or ArcGIS
- Familiarity with river geomorphology principles, sediment transport, and channel assessment techniques
- Experience or certification in drone (UAV) operations (e.g., Transport Canada Basic or Advanced RPAS certification)
- Familiarity with UAV data processing workflows
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written – including technical or scientific writing)
- Experience and interest in fieldwork in remote locations
