About the role

  • Managing and technically leading teams in the design and construction administration of complex projects for public and private sector clients
  • Leading bridge design projects of varying size and complexity through all phases of design
  • Developing design plans, technical specifications, and construction cost estimates
  • Preparing, checking, and delivering engineering calculations, reports, and technical studies
  • Guiding and mentoring junior and intermediate staff
  • Building a strong culture of quality design and teamwork
  • Assisting with or leading bridge inspection and load rating assignments
  • Carrying out constructability reviews during the design of conventionally procured projects
  • Developing and presenting information to clients and the public
  • Coordinating with clients, agencies, subconsultants, and others to obtain and determine project requirements and approvals

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
  • Licensed Professional Engineer
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience
  • Thorough understanding of VTrans and/or NHDOT design standards and practices
  • Strong knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications
  • Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule
  • Railroad bridge experience would be a huge benefit
  • Effective verbal, visual, and written communication skills
  • Experience with bridge inspection and load rating
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting, engage in creative and critical thought, and effectively communicate ideas, design issues, and solutions to others
