About the role
- Managing and technically leading teams in the design and construction administration of complex projects for public and private sector clients
- Leading bridge design projects of varying size and complexity through all phases of design
- Developing design plans, technical specifications, and construction cost estimates
- Preparing, checking, and delivering engineering calculations, reports, and technical studies
- Guiding and mentoring junior and intermediate staff
- Building a strong culture of quality design and teamwork
- Assisting with or leading bridge inspection and load rating assignments
- Carrying out constructability reviews during the design of conventionally procured projects
- Developing and presenting information to clients and the public
- Coordinating with clients, agencies, subconsultants, and others to obtain and determine project requirements and approvals
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Licensed Professional Engineer
- Minimum of 10 years of experience
- Thorough understanding of VTrans and/or NHDOT design standards and practices
- Strong knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications
- Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule
- Railroad bridge experience would be a huge benefit
- Effective verbal, visual, and written communication skills
- Experience with bridge inspection and load rating
- Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting, engage in creative and critical thought, and effectively communicate ideas, design issues, and solutions to others
