About the role
- Consistently demonstrate a commitment to the Health and Safety culture within Stantec
- Take a self-directed role and manage multiple projects with competing deadlines effectively; provide timely and concise feedback to supervisory staff
- Contribute to conceptual design basis reports, engineering assessments, data analysis and design calculations
- Prepare detailed technical analysis of existing or in support of the design of water and wastewater facilities
- Contribute to the preparation of construction specifications, tender documents, and applications for approvals to regulators on behalf of clients
- Support the preparation of engineering calculations, design drawings, technical specifications, and construction documents
- Maintain positive relationships with clients, vendors, consultants, and regulators as needed always using a professional communication approach
- Conduct occasional site visits to support proposals, project development, or business development
- Inspect and review projects during construction, which may include monitoring conformance with contract documents, reviewing the progress of construction activities, and ensuring cost, schedule and quality standards are met
- Assist the project manager or lead engineer in preparation of proposals and technical reports
- Assist project technical leads in managing project deliverables and schedule
- Ability to work in a flexible office environment, including working within the office setting, or working remote from home where required
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Chemical, Environmental, or Civil Engineering from an accredited institution
- Completion of a Master’s or PhD degree in Water/Wastewater Treatment technology or process engineering disciplines considered an asset
- Minimum of 3 years of water and wastewater engineering related work experience. Cooperative education or other pre-graduation experience will also be considered
- Currently working toward your professional designation (P. Eng)
- Understanding of general concepts of relevant areas of water and wastewater engineering
- Basic understanding of construction survey and field measurement
- Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought
- Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet project budget and schedule
- Demonstrated creativity, foresight, and engineering judgment in anticipating and solving problems
- Understanding of engineering concepts and ability to communicate ideas to others
- Effectively communicates project issues with the contractor, project team and clients in the execution of engineering projects
- Strong presentation, technical, and soft communication skills
- Understanding of Microsoft Office Suite is required; proficiency in engineering applications such as AutoCAD and Revit software packages are considered an asset
- Holds a valid drivers’ license.
