💰 $74,600 - $104,400 per year
About the role
- Assist with the design of bridges, walls, culverts, and sign structures incorporating California DOT practices and AASHTO LRFD standards
- Assist with conducting engineering investigations, feasibility studies, cost, and risk analysis
- Assist with assessing and identifying bridge load ratings
- Use of advanced structural analysis/design software and 3D models
- Assist with the completion of bridge construction plans and specifications
- Assist with preparing structural computations, material quantity takeoffs, and cost estimates and helping in checking the work of others
- Perform other duties as assigned by senior engineering staff.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis in structural design, Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 0-5 years of professional experience in the design of bridges and structures
- Previous internship experience in bridge design, analysis or inspection a plus
- Engineer in Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern (EI) designation preferred or ability to obtain within six months from date of hire
- Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity and innovation
- Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the design team
- Some working knowledge of codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions.
- Familiarity with California DOT and AASHTO LRFD codes a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Developing ability to effectively discuss project issues
- Microstation experience is a plus
- Experience with structural design is a plus
- Excellent organization, project management and communication skills both written and verbal along with excellent interpersonal abilities and willingness to work in a team
