About the role
- Responsible for projects of various complexity/size
- Assess required work and prepare proposals
- Select appropriate team for a project and inform that team of an assignment
- Lead electrical engineering work on all electrical systems for a project
- Present designs to clients and obtain acceptance
- Coordinate development of models and working drawings utilizing BIM and AutoCAD technologies
- Prepare or oversee necessary calculations and sizing
- Lead preparation of project specifications, including where applicable commercial terms
- Lead project coordination meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner, contractor, sub-contractors, and vendors
- Participate in value analysis and basic cost estimating
- Manage the project scope, budget, staffing and schedule
- Perform and oversee the performance of necessary calculations
- Conduct quality assurance and quality control on own projects
- Conduct peer reviews of project work prepared by other engineers
- Lead the development of new standards, practices, and specifications for the electrical team
- Work on multiple concurrent projects
Requirements
- Comprehensive knowledge and application of National Building Code, Canadian Electrical Code, and other applicable building and industry codes
- Thorough understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications
- Thorough knowledge of electrical systems, means and methods, materials, and industry practices
- Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule
- Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought
- Thorough understanding of electrical engineering concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others
- Advanced oral and written communication skills
- Good presentation and interview skills
- Good understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, Revit, AutoCAD
- Experience with specialty modeling software, such as AGI 32, Visual Lighting, SKM, ETAP, HOMER, etc. is an asset
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering & Licensed Professional Engineer required
- Minimum of 10 years of experience preferred.
