About the role

  • Assist in conducting transportation planning studies, including traffic impact studies, traffic operations analyses, crash analyses, and speed studies.
  • Support Transportation Planning and Traffic Engineering (TPTE) portions of Environmental Impact Assessments and Planning and Environmental Linkages studies, coordinating with other disciplines.
  • Participate in traffic data collection programs and analyze collected data.
  • Contribute to iterative roadway design processes alongside roadway and structural engineers.
  • Prepare materials for public outreach meetings and facilitate clear visual communication of technical concepts for public audiences.
  • Perform microsimulation and mesoscopic modeling, integrating findings into final project recommendations.
  • Draft technical memoranda and comprehensive reports.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of TPTE principles and best practices
  • Familiarity with TPTE standards, codes, and requirements
  • Understanding of National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA) studies and guidelines
  • Experience with traffic analysis tools such as Synchro and HCS
  • Experience with VISSIM, ArcGIS, or Adobe Illustrator
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Proficiency with standard business software, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate technical findings to general audiences
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Transportation Planning, City and Regional Planning, Operations Research, or a related field. A master’s degree is considered an asset.
  • Minimum of 1 years of professional experience is preferred. Previous internship experience a plus.
  • Engineering in Training (EIT) license, successful completion of the FE exam, or ability to obtain EIT within six months of employment
