About the role
- Lead complex plumbing projects and oversee project budgets, schedules, and teams across multiple offices
- Mentor and coach engineers on industry best practices and technical aspects of plumbing and process system design
- Recommend and support training opportunities, including classes, seminars, and lunch-and-learn sessions
- Stay current on new plumbing and related code requirements and communicate updates to staff
- Assist in developing and maintaining plumbing standards, details, design processes, and specifications
- Ensure quality control processes are followed throughout project execution
- Conduct quality control reviews for selected projects
- Develop and manage schedules and budgets and directly assign staff to support successful project delivery
- Remain current in plumbing design codes, standards, and best practices
- Collaborate with project managers and discipline leads to develop scope, fees, staffing plans, and schedules
- Coordinate with engineering discipline leads across multiple offices and represent Plumbing in engineering initiatives
- Support hiring activities for new team members
- Assist with proposal reviews and workload estimating and forecasting
Requirements
- Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license and CPD required; NCEES preferred
- Strong technical expertise in plumbing and process system design for large, complex facilities
- Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams across multiple offices
- Proven mentoring and coaching skills for developing engineering staff
- In-depth knowledge of applicable plumbing codes, standards, and design practices
- Proficiency with Revit in a building systems design environment
- Experience with compressed air systems, process systems (RO/DI/High Purity), and medical gas and vacuum systems preferred
- Experience with UFC design criteria, healthcare facilities, municipal projects, and higher education facilities is a plus
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering required
- 20+ years of experience designing plumbing and process systems for large, complex buildings required
- Some travel required
