About the role

  • Lead complex plumbing projects and oversee project budgets, schedules, and teams across multiple offices
  • Mentor and coach engineers on industry best practices and technical aspects of plumbing and process system design
  • Recommend and support training opportunities, including classes, seminars, and lunch-and-learn sessions
  • Stay current on new plumbing and related code requirements and communicate updates to staff
  • Assist in developing and maintaining plumbing standards, details, design processes, and specifications
  • Ensure quality control processes are followed throughout project execution
  • Conduct quality control reviews for selected projects
  • Develop and manage schedules and budgets and directly assign staff to support successful project delivery
  • Remain current in plumbing design codes, standards, and best practices
  • Collaborate with project managers and discipline leads to develop scope, fees, staffing plans, and schedules
  • Coordinate with engineering discipline leads across multiple offices and represent Plumbing in engineering initiatives
  • Support hiring activities for new team members
  • Assist with proposal reviews and workload estimating and forecasting

Requirements

  • Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license and CPD required; NCEES preferred
  • Strong technical expertise in plumbing and process system design for large, complex facilities
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams across multiple offices
  • Proven mentoring and coaching skills for developing engineering staff
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable plumbing codes, standards, and design practices
  • Proficiency with Revit in a building systems design environment
  • Experience with compressed air systems, process systems (RO/DI/High Purity), and medical gas and vacuum systems preferred
  • Experience with UFC design criteria, healthcare facilities, municipal projects, and higher education facilities is a plus
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering required
  • 20+ years of experience designing plumbing and process systems for large, complex buildings required
  • Some travel required
