About the role

  • Drive and facilitate disciplined application of marketing and business development process for pursuits
  • Engage early in the pursuit process to strategically position Stantec with key clients
  • Identify and research client decision makers and influencers; establish action plans to grow relationships
  • Collaborate with capture team to develop capture plans, competitor analysis, UVPs, and teaming strategies
  • Identify opportunities to position team before RFQs/RFPs release and implement positioning strategies
  • Support early development and implementation of pursuit-specific capture plans including due diligence, SWOT analysis, go/no-go and strategy reviews
  • Plan, organize, and direct all elements of proposal development: analyze RFP/RFQ, initiate/update capture plan, facilitate kick-offs, manage response development, coordinate reviews, and ensure on-time delivery
  • Translate unique value propositions into key themes through storyboarding with benefits statements, graphics, and proofs
  • Lead and/or support commercial contract and rate reviews with legal and business owners
  • Lead or support the risk review process with pursuit teams
  • Prepare pursuit teams for interviews, including presentation strategy and interview coaching
  • Develop and maintain marketing materials/qualifications, project profiles, experience matrices, safety and quality statistics, and capability statements
  • Share marketing and sales materials and best practices across regional and business line teams
  • Ensure marketing and sales documents comply with corporate branding and client confidentiality requirements
  • Maintain Stantec internal systems for opportunity tracking, people, projects, and promotional activity
  • Support positioning activities including client/competitor/market research, account plan development, and client engagement activities

Requirements

  • Proven experience developing responses to detailed requests for qualifications and proposals (RFQs and RFPs), a minimum of 8-10 years of experience is required.
  • Detail oriented and organized, with exceptional prioritization skills
  • Must thrive working assertively in a deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to effectively balance conflicting priorities
  • Demonstrated proficiency with web-based tools, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign experience recommended), and Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to effectively communicate with senior management, supervisors, peers and clients
  • Experience in commercial contracts review
  • Experience in financial reviews of proposals and rates
  • Excellent interviewing, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills in small or large group environments, with proficiency in presentation support tools (e.g., PowerPoint)
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of marketing and business development best practices
  • Ability to work effectively within a group (large capture teams, engineers, and technical project managers) as well as independently motivated with minimal supervision
  • Post-secondary in marketing, communications, public relations or science level of experience.
  • MBA is highly recommended.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in a senior marketing role in a medium- to large-sized organization in the Architecture/Engineering/Consulting industry
