About the role
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender documentation for construction projects.
- Analyse drawings, specifications, and project documents to determine material, labour, and time requirements.
- Source, liaise, and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
- Assess and manage project risks, allowances, and contingencies in cost planning.
- Assist with preparing fee proposals, tenders, and progress claims.
- Work closely with project managers and site supervisors to monitor project costs and budget performance.
- Review design changes and variations, providing cost impact analysis and updated estimates.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market rates, construction materials, and industry trends.
Requirements
- At least 3+ years’ experience as an Estimator, ideally in residential or light commercial construction.
- Understanding of Lighting Control Design is a plus but not required
- Understanding of Australian construction standards, codes, and industry practices.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Buildsoft, CostX, or equivalent) and MS Excel.
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills for supplier and subcontractor engagement.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
