About the role
- Manage the running of the outsourced finance function which takes care of finance operations including bills, payments, PAYE, VAT, bookkeeping and Payroll for UK and international employees (38 in total).. This includes management of our outsourced accounting suppliers who perform bookkeeeping services..
- Expense and credit card processes - oversee/manage credit card expense and staff expense process for floats and personal claims.
- Invoicing and Credit control - Manage the issuing and tracking of sales invoices (currently nine customers). Oversee the credit control process. Co-ordinate response on difficult payers where required, and update the team where necessary.
- Treasury and FX - monitor cash liquidity to ensure sufficient operational funding and interest yield, while managing foreign exchange exposure through hedging partners.
- Sales Commissions, maintain the sales commission schedule - calculate, pay and account for Sales Commissions.
- Tax and compliance - co-ordinate operational tax issues, in conjunction with external accountants; together with the CFO, manage the production of statutory accounts and any statutory compliance; manage tax schemes e.g. VAT return, R&D tax credits etc; assist with onboarding of new employees. Prepare yearly data for P11Ds and PAYE Settlement Agreements.
- Monthly reporting - manage the production of monthly management accounts, post journals and carry out balance sheet reconciliations. Together with the CFO, update and review the monthly finance forecast and reports. Deliver reports for presentation to the CEO and SLT.
- Year End accounts - Ensure all year-end trial balances are accurate and fully reconciled for the external Accountants to produce Statutory Accounts.
- Budgeting and forecasting - together with the CFO, draft the budget timetable and capture the strategic objectives; manage the annual budget process meeting with senior management and where required investors to draft the annual budget. Update the Forecast on a monthly basis.
- Share Options - maintain the Share Options schedule and grant share options every quarter with getting an HMRC valuation.
- Finance Policies - maintain finance policies and update as necessary.
- Ad hoc - support the business and leadership team with ad hoc analysis as required. Available to respond to any finance related queries.
Requirements
- Accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
- University degree in a related field.
- At least three years of experience, ideally in an early-stage software environment.
- Strong Excel super-user - confident with vlookups, pivots, consolidation, sumif, etc.
- Commercially aware - comfortable making decisions with the business’ best interests in mind.
- Confident communicator, both verbally and written, with gravitas and ability to lead meetings with senior management.
- High EQ, with a track record of building strong internal and external relationships.
- Structured and focussed, with strong prioritisation skills.
- Deadline-driven with a bias for action.
- Highly autonomous, and able to deliver results with minimal supervision.
