About the role
- Lead and manage the Stencil Squad of engineers, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality delivery and exploring/implementing intelligent solutions such as AI to enhance team efficiency.
- Collaborate with the Product Manager to prioritise work and maintain a roadmap aligned with business priorities using data analysis to inform prioritization.
- Ensure the squad operates with speed, resilience, and reliability, using people, processes, automation and AI to meet engineering expectations.
- Provide timely reporting of delivery progress against commitments, dependencies, issues, risks, and pro-active mitigations.
- Encourage lean approaches such as MVP and A/B testing to deliver right experiences and explore technologies to accelerate these methodologies.
- Promote good citizenship in the Spotify engineering ecosystem by following standard methodologies and staying abreast of emerging trends.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and provide support and development to every engineer through highs and lows of working life.
Requirements
- Demonstrable success in engineering management and leadership, with awareness of how emerging technologies, such as AI, can enhance engineering processes and team effectiveness.
- Experienced understanding of software engineering practices and agile methodologies and ability to discuss pros and cons of common approaches.
- Leadership and communication skills to drive clarity and insight across diverse audiences and inspire teams to shared vision and goals.
- Experience working with multi-functional teams and managing complex projects, including reflection on successes and failures.
- Comfortable using state-of-the-art AI tooling in a software engineering domain and able to advocate and reason about tool value.
- Help create best experiences for listeners, developers, product managers and designers.
- This role is based in London or Stockholm.
