Full-stack Engineer

• Support the preparation of a new release of the JChat Java Client

• Participate in Scrum meetings. • Under this work package the contractors of the supplier will support the development of a new version of the JChat Java client software following the Scrum methodology based on a backlog of tickets that is maintained in JIRA by the Purchaser.
• All activities for the preparation of the release, e.g. development, documenting, testing and reviewing, release building will be expressed as tickets with Story Points (SP) under this work package.
• Under this work package the contractors of the supplier will support the development of a new version of the JChat web client software following the Scrum methodology based on a backlog of tickets that is maintained in JIRA by the Purchaser.

• All activities for the preparation of the release, e.g. development, documenting, testing and reviewing, release building will be expressed as tickets with Story Points (SP) under this work package.
• Under this work package at least one of the contractors of the supplier will represent the JChat team during the CWIX IPC event and the INTEND event.
• Under this work package the contractors of the supplier will maintain and implement changes to the development pipeline (tool chain) for the JChat products following the Scrum methodology based on a backlog of tickets that is maintained in JIRA by the Purchaser.

• Deliver defined technical outputs and associated documentation in accordance with the agreed scope, quality standards, and timelines.

IT Systems Design – Architecture Specialist

QA Engineer

• Develop, update, and maintain NIRIS test cases, test scenarios, test scripts, and test data in accordance with agreed requirements, priorities, technical direction, release planning, and project objectives.
• Perform manual, automated, functional, regression, integration, and system testing to support the continued maintenance, validation, and evolution of the NIRIS software baseline.
• Support the full software testing lifecycle of NIRIS, including test analysis, test design, test implementation, test execution, defect reporting, retesting, regression testing, and test documentation.
• Develop, update, and maintain automated test scripts and test automation assets to improve test coverage, repeatability, maintainability, and regression testing capability.
• Support integration and verification activities to ensure that developed, updated, or maintained NIRIS software components operate correctly within the wider NIRIS system and in line with agreed interface, interoperability, and operational requirements.
• Analyse, investigate, document, and report software defects, test failures, anomalies, and quality issues identified during testing, integration, verification, release preparation, or operational support activities.
• Support the verification of defect fixes and software changes by performing retesting, regression testing, and validation against agreed acceptance criteria and requirements.
• Develop, update, and maintain test documentation, including test plans, test cases, test execution reports, defect reports, regression test evidence, automation documentation, and other project deliverables as required.
• Contribute to virtual and in-person meetings, reviews, planning sessions, sprint ceremonies, technical discussions, test coordination activities, and release readiness reviews with NCIA stakeholders and project team members.
• Ensure that all testing activities, test artefacts, automated scripts, defect reports, and associated deliverables comply with applicable NCIA testing standards, quality requirements, configuration management practices, and agreed project procedures.
• Update and expand the produced test assets, automated test scripts, test data, and documentation as necessary to accommodate new, revised, or emerging requirements throughout the duration of the engagement.
• Support the improvement of NIRIS software quality, reliability, maintainability, interoperability, and operational readiness by providing structured testing, clear test evidence, and timely feedback to the project team.

Software Tester

Artificial Intelligence

• Leading the identification and scoping of AI/ML use cases applicable to (T)BMD fire- control coordination and IAMD operational challenges.
• Reviewing existing NIAG SG300 reports and TBMD simulation data to establish baseline knowledge and identify relevant datasets.
• Designing a baseline data architecture and methodological framework for the responsible use of advanced AI technologies within the BMD domain, informed by NATO’s current AI architecture and near-term plans.
• Conducting feasibility studies on emerging AI/ML computational techniques (such as machine learning, deep learning, reinforcement learning, and large language models) and assessing their potential operational benefit for identified use cases.
• Developing and evaluating AI/ML software prototypes and demonstrators for selected BMD use cases at NATO UNCLASSIFIED level in the NATO Software Factory (NSF). All development to take place in NSF and to use existing LLMs where needed (to make it easier to migrate to NS).
• Preparing and providing subject matter (BMD AI) briefings, expert reports, and feasibility study documentation related to the project work.
• Developing and documenting a responsible AI framework aligned to the NATO Principles of Responsible AI Use (PRU), as outlined in the NATO AI Strategy, but specifically tailored to the BMD context. This work should follow NATO ambition and align with existing work on the topic as required.
• Planning and delivering subject matter (BMD AI) training and knowledge transfer sessions to the NCIA project team and a wider NCIA community, focusing on the BMD case. NCIA will share currently available AI training material with the contractor team.

AI Technologist
