About the role
- Work closely with Engineering, Product, and Design teams to understand and assess new products and technologies, from early development stages through launch.
- Review engineering and design specifications for privacy-by-design requirements and legal compliance.
- Analyze potential legal and safety risks and regulatory requirements for new products and technologies.
- Work with legal and business colleagues to develop regulatory compliance and go to market strategies.
- Help scale the legal organization by developing innovative processes - including AI - to support the fast-moving Engineering, Product, and Design teams.
- Help draft public-facing descriptions, terms, and product inserts, of new products and technologies.
- Conduct trainings for engineers and other teams across the company.
Requirements
- J.D. from a nationally recognized law school
- Active membership in at least one state bar
- 8+ years of experience practicing law
- Deep experience counseling clients on hardware legal issues, including compliance with global hardware regulations and safety and repair standards
- Experience advising clients on domestic and global privacy issues, including ones related to AI, AR, and wearable technology
- Experience directly advising and working with product teams and engineers to drive outcomes that effectively balance risk mitigations and business objectives
