Provide guidance and direction for the daily operations and compliance of water and wastewater treatment systems across Smithfield facilities
Craft standard operating procedures, guidelines, and compliance documents to meet local, state, and federal regulations
Deliver training and guidance to operators to enhance system functionality and navigate challenging conditions
Ensure environmental compliance and develop innovative methods for efficient treatment across potable water and wastewater treatment
Serve as subject matter expert in wastewater operations pretreatment, anaerobic, aeration (including BNR), and disinfection
Improve data driven decision making to improve efficiency and reduce costs while ensuring 100% compliance
Assist Senior EHS Directors in establishing and maintaining compliance with applicable federal, state, and local EHS regulations and corporate requirements
Assist Regional EHS Managers in maintaining a safe working environment and uniform application of EHS programs
Assist in developing and implementing corporate policy, programs, and training materials and ensure effective implementation at assigned facilities
Ensure facilities are inspection/audit ready and assist in addressing and closing out findings
Lead regulatory compliance disputes, including with OSHA, EPA, Chemical Safety Board, coordinating with internal and external legal teams
Participate in corporate training and business meetings as appropriate
May perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university and 10+ years relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience, required
5+ years of demonstrated experience in team management/development is required
Ability to make strategic decisions while in stressful situations including leading emergency response efforts
Energized by collaboration through travel to other locations 50% of the time depending on the initiative being executed
Experience in Wastewater treatment operation, management, and leadership in the protein industry (preferred)
Excellent knowledge of Water and Wastewater regulations
Strong oral and written communication skills for drafting reports, business correspondence, and procedures in English
Effective presentation skills and ability to responds to questions from a diverse audience
