About the role
- ASC 606 Revenue Recognition Oversight: Lead the technical execution of the ASC 606 revenue recognition framework, ensuring all customer contracts are accurately analyzed and manage the end-to-end calculation of earned versus deferred revenue, maintaining rigorous documentation to support revenue conclusions during internal and external audits.
- Complex Revenue Management: Manage and execute the billing process for high-value, complex contract structures. Oversee the lifecycle of deferred revenue and customer deposits, ensuring accurate recognition and reconciliation in accordance with ASC 606 standards. Exercise independent judgment to resolve complex discrepancies to ensure all data adjustments align with corporate accounting policies and GAAP standards.
- Discrepancy Resolution: Act as the primary escalation point for Sales, Account Management, and Compliance teams regarding sophisticated billing inquiries. You will exercise independent judgment to resolve contract-to-billing misalignments and negotiate resolution paths.
- Invoice Processing & Accuracy: Prepare, issue, and distribute a high-volume of invoices, in a complex billing cycle, to customers in accordance with contract terms and company policy. Establish audit checkpoints to ensure 100% alignment between executed contract terms, CRM data, and final invoices to minimize credit memos and disputes.
- Strategic Close Coordination: Optimize and oversee the month-end close workflow for billing within the Finance department. Responsibilities include certifying account reconciliations, managing the reconciliation of customer accounts to the General Ledger (GL), and drafting management reports that summarize key billing metrics and revenue recognition outcomes.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for billing process enhancements, automation, and system improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Reporting: Generate and present routine and ad-hoc reports on billing metrics, trends, and forecasts for management review.
- Compliance: Interpret and apply GAAP and internal controls (SOX compliance where applicable) to billing workflows. Ensure the department remains audit-ready and serves as the primary point of contact for external auditors regarding billing, customer deposits, and AR inquiries.
