About the role
- Conducting environmental and socio-economic research (primary and secondary source research)
- Supporting intermediate and senior staff with managing client relationships and projects delivery
- Supporting environmental and socio-economic research including data collection, analysis, and all aspects of report writing
- Supporting the design and implementation of stakeholder/community engagement and communications plans, activities and programs involving various communities (Indigenous and non-Indigenous), private sector companies, governments, non-governmental groups and organizations across Canada
- Supporting with writing project proposals
- Working collaboratively with teams of environmental and social scientists, planners and engineers involved in multi-disciplinary impact assessments, project permitting, strategic planning and policy development assignments
- Applying creative and critical thinking skills
- Supporting complex tasks and providing assistance on QA/QC
- Balancing a number of projects concurrently
- Promoting and maintaining a positive work environment through a culture of teamwork and cooperation
Requirements
- Post-secondary degree specializing in a related technical environmental discipline (environmental science or engineering, ecology, environmental law/policy)
- Experience in a similar role in an environmental consulting environment is considered an asset
- Team player with excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Strong technical writing skills, with an ability to synthesize technical information and develop plain language summaries
- An understanding of Indigenous communities in Canada, with demonstrated lived, work, or educational experience
- An understanding of municipal, provincial, and federal environmental regulatory and permitting requirements
- An understanding of international environmental and social impact assessment standards, guidelines and processes is an asset
- Ability to travel within Canada periodically, as required (up to 10% of the time)
