About the role
- Operate Slate’s COI compliance program end-to-end: intake, validation, renewals, and escalation.
- Maintain and apply a COI requirements matrix by vendor/contractor category (limits, endorsements, wording) and manage an exception/waiver log.
- Coordinate with brokers and vendors to obtain compliant COIs and required endorsements; follow up until resolved.
- Perform first-pass screening of insurance requirements in contracts (MSAs/SOWs/leases/vendor agreements), flag gaps, and route exceptions to Legal/Risk Manager with clear summaries.
- Execute weekly pre-pay-run COI reviews against the unpaid invoice report; block payments for noncompliant vendors and document holds and resolutions.
- Support claims operations across workers' compensation and products liability as those programs scale, including intake documentation, adjuster and broker coordination, diary management, reserves tracking, and internal status reporting.
- Build and maintain loss runs and claims dashboards; identify trends and support root-cause reviews with EHS/Ops/Legal.
- Own the exposure data pipeline for renewal submissions, ensuring the Risk Manager has clean, auditable datasets on the renewal timeline.
- Maintain policy documentation, endorsements, schedules, and historical records; ensure data is complete and easy to audit.
- Maintain the property statement of values (SOV) and coordinate updates/endorsement follow-through as locations and assets change.
- Produce recurring executive-ready reporting (KPIs, compliance rates, claims trends, renewal readiness).
- Administer risk/insurance systems (RMIS or equivalent) and act as the data steward for risk and insurance information.
- Help design and automate workflows and reporting (e.g., COI intake → ticketing → exception tracking → dashboard).
Requirements
- 3–5 years of experience in commercial insurance, brokerage, claims, or an in-house risk management function.
- Working knowledge of commercial lines such as CGL, auto, workers’ compensation, product liability, property, and umbrella/excess.
- Strong Excel skills (pivots, lookups, data cleaning); comfort working with imperfect datasets and building reliable outputs.
- Systems orientation: experience with RMIS, claims platforms, ticketing tools (Jira or similar), and process automation is a plus.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted document review, workflow automation, or low-code tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication; able to be crisp, organized, and persistent with internal and external partners.
- High attention to detail and good judgment handling confidential/sensitive information.
- Certifications (CPCU/ARM/CRM/AIC) a plus, not required.
- Auto/manufacturing experience a plus, not required.
Benefits
- Remote eligible with travel as needed for key meetings, renewals, and site visits (expected travel: as needed, but typically not more than quarterly).
